Ministries of St. John’s

Meals to Go:

The pandemic created an opportunity for us to begin a ministry that has touched the lives of many since 2020. What started as a “visiting high school lent worship concert” being canceled, and having to figure out a way to use almost 100 pounds of meat, turned into Meals to Go. We have been blessed to have generous donors, and countless volunteers who are more than happy to serve others. In addition, meals have been provided to school families, congregation members and people from our community on a weekly basis.

BEDS Lunch Ministry:

Bag lunches are provided to BEDS Shelter once a month.

Blood Drives:

The congregation hosts three blood drives plus a health screening event.

Donation Drives:

Congregation members donate throughout the year to the LaGrange Food Pantry, Operation Christmas Child, as well as to bottle and diaper drives for Caring Network of DuPage.

Community:

The congregation participates in the LaGrange Pet Parade and the LaGrange Crop Walk each year. We host monthly fellowship and community outreach meals as well as a community movie night, family fun events, Easter Eggstravaganza and Trunk or Treat.

The Boards of Evangelism and Caring Ministries would like to thank all the volunteers and donors who help make these events possible. We would like to thank all of you who have supported these ministries through your generous donation of Thrivent grants. A large majority of the events listed in this report have been supported by Thrivent grants, supplementing the gift of generous weekly offering donations and your continued prayers.
