Haberkost Endowment Fund

THE REV. JAMES PAUL HABERKOST STUDENT AID ENDOWMENT

At Concordia Seminary, St. Louis, MO

Our beloved Pastor Emeritus James Paul Haberkost was called home to be with our Lord in April 2020. Rev. Haberkost served at St. John’s from 1980 until his retirement in 2003. Prior to serving as pastor of our church and school, he served for 21 years at Grace Lutheran Church, Streamwood, Illinois – a parish he founded upon graduating from Concordia Seminary. Pastor Haberkost also served in pastoral roles at Zion Lutheran Church of Hinsdale after retiring from full-time ministry at St. John’s.

St. John’s chose to build on Pastor Haberkost’s legacy by establishing an endowed scholarship fund at his alma mater, Concordia Seminary in St. Louis. The endowed fund is invested by the seminary and annual income from the investments will be granted to seminary students preparing for pastoral ministry. These grants will help seminarians for generations to come – a fitting tribute to Pastor Haberkost, who encouraged many young men to pursue a seminary education and who are now serving our Lords’s church as Pastors

As of June 30, 2022 the Haberkost Endowment Fund had assets in excess of $34,000. A detailed financial report for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2022 is available at the link listed below.
