Children's Ministry

At St. John's, we're just crazy about kids. We love kids. We believe they should be seen and heard in church. We take seriously Jesus command, "Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these." (Matthew 19:14).

Children's Minister, Naomi Vogt, leads our staff and volunteers in a dynamic that engages the whole parish in children's ministry.

Children in Worship

Every worship service is planned with children in mind. Weekly we have a message planned especially for children to Meet Jesus and Experience Church. Age appropriate worship bags are available for children to pick up as they enter the church. Booster chairs are a favorite for kids to pick up so they can see everything better. And when parents need a little extra help we have a full-staffed nursery with paging services for parents.

Sunday School

Sunday School for children ages 3 through the 6th grade at St. John's meets every Sunday from 9:25a to 10:30a. Nearly all of our teachers have teaching degrees and their love for kids just shines. Our children have the opportunity to sing, learn, and play with their peers as they discover God’s love and grace. Our fall season begins this Sunday. Volunteers will be in the church narthex to assist you in getting started. See the FAQs on Sunday School page for more information. You can also contact Naomi Vogt at extension 212 or through our contact page.

Children's Sermon This Week

Christ is Risen! The children will take part in the surprise of Easter and celebrate the good news of the stone rolled away, Jesus is alive, back from the dead!

Parents: Take It Home

The entire drama of Holy Week and Easter is the core of our faith. Take time at home to ask your children what they saw and heard about Jesus in these services. Help them to know the most important story you'll ever tell you children by retelling it with them.

Youth on Sunday Mornings

Youth in junior and senior high hold discussion groups with in depth studies in scripture and contemporary issues every Sunday morning. The youth room is located in the basement, room  B-08.  The stairways to the basement are located in the church narthex and adjacent to the church office.

Confirmation Studies

Confirmation Classes meet weekly on Tuesday evenings from 6:15 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. from Late August through April. Contact Naomi Vogt (x. 212 or contact page) for more information.

Experience the
Support of the Church

Prayer is the center of everything. People need prayer. Through prayer we can now boldly say “send me God.” A strong bond is created and we connect ....

When I am in the word daily, I feel God’s presence. I have an easier time resisting temptation and discerning His will. Reading daily doesn’t have to be doggedly endured. There are fresh new ways to do it. I can be on autopilot and it allows God to be in charge. With Him in charge, it gives ....

Sunday youth studies have helped me grow in my faith. Mr. Zagone listens to us, respects where we are coming from and values us as part of the church. I go to youth group because I always wanted a teen example in my life growing up and I found one in Danielle. Youth group lets us..

Being involved in choir has been great. I get to know people and create friendships with a common bond over the love of music. Sure beats sitting in a pew on Sundays and not getting involved. The songs we’re learning really stick with you and I find myself ....

I started small groups because I was invited. That simple gesture has led to making connections and starting other new small groups. I am open to meeting new people and seeing the resources God has given us with people and we get to see how He works in our lives. People can be threatened by church. Small groups are ...

I was searching for a church. We brought my son Cam to St. John’s to look at the school. I was so impressed with the school that we started attending church also. After two services I told my mom, “This is where I want to be!” Everyone was so welcoming and St. John’s school has such a friendly atmosphere. You can truly see the love and care between teachers, students, parents and volunteers. I felt welcomed and appreciated almost immediately. ~Amy – School Ministry
