The Route: Day 1
(Hales Corners to Illinois Beach State Park)

Visits With Three Ministries

Hales Corners Lutheran Church

“You will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria and the ends of the earth" (Acts 1:8). This is the mission of Hales Corners, located about ten miles outside of downtown Milwaukee, focusing their missions locally, in Milwaukee, in America and the world. Locally, Hales Corners runs Sonshine Ministry, a clothing and food pantry that distributes food to Ebenezer Lutheran, serving about 230 families monthly. Hales Corners has partnered with both Ebenezer in Milwaukee and St. John’s in Racine to spread the work of the Holy Spirit in supporting other urban ministries.

Ebenezer Lutheran Church in Milwaukee

Ebenezer has existed for more than 30 years, serving the south side of Milwaukee’s families, providing emergency food, health assistance from their parish nurse, and information on other subsidies in the area. With the declining economy, the poverty level in this area of Milwaukee has grown significantly. The ministry of Ebenezer is constantly pushing for growth as they currently seek to expand their food pantry. The goal of this urban church is to “Reach people through the dignified provision of basic staples during times of crisis, demonstrating God’s love and providing an example of His hope.”

Peace Lutheran Church in Racine, WI

Peace Lutheran has also partnered with Hales Corners to support the needs of the people in the area of Racine to build unity in our faith in Christ and spread the Word of God.

“The Kingdom of God… will be given to a people who produce its fruit.” —Matthew 21:43
